    To work out the year of Dredge Point, you’ll need to combine two pieces of evidence.

    The “Early Plays of Tewkesbury” book explains that “The events of Pelham’s death would later provide the basis for Tewkesbury’s play Dredge Point”. 

    Now we know that Pelham’s Death is the subject matter for the play “Dredge Point”, we need to find another piece of evidence that discusses Pelham’s death as the basis for a play.

    HINT 09

    On May 15, 1961, Mark Tewkesbury writes a letter to Frances asking her if she is comfortable with the idea of him writing a play about Astrid’s death. The information at the top of that document (The collected letters of Frances Parker) explains that this was “the first time he discussed his idea for this play which would make its Broadway debut two years later”. Two years on from 1961 is 1963.
