Miami Hints: Final Hints

Craig’s father, Terrence, died under suspisous circumstances. If we can find out why and how he died, perhaps we it will help us identify Craig’s killer. Terrence’s Coroner’s Report stated he was poisoned. Can you verify which type of poison it was?

We hear Strauss in the second recording say, ‘Can you buy some Rest-in-Squeaks.’ The same poison found in Terrence! Who is Strauss talking to on this wiretap?

Strauss is talking to Matt Lane…Listen to the first wiretap on the ILEDB file: WT45F/2: there is a mention of ‘”Kung-Fu Movies”. The Concierge at McRae Bay Towers also confirms that Matt Lane is a fan of ‘Kung-Fu Movies’: Judging by the wiretap conversations, a drug delivery is taking place! Perhaps this is when the poisoned drugs were delivered. If Terrence left Craig’s apartment before Matt Lane delivered the poisoned drugs, and we know that the poisoned drugs were in the car when Craig dropped off Luzzi (because of the mention of an “upgraded formula”), how did Terrence fall victim to these poisoned drugs? 

Suppose that Terrence didn’t go to the Cinema. Could he have accessed Craig’s car at any point? Also, track the car keys!

Craig’s Psychiatrist mentions Craig ‘keeping two spare car keys on a table near his apartment door. Luzzi also talks about Craig’s new car key and what he would do with the old one, to which he responded,”a spare for if I lose the spare”. This would suggest there are 3 car keys in total. He gave one to his stunt double Jerry Michaels (after receiving advice to do so by the Psychiatrist). James Low confirmed that Jerry was carrying this spare when he died. Is the other spare car key still by the front door?

No! The Polaroid that accompanies Sam Reed’s Police Report only shows a boat key and a safe deposit key on the table by Craig’s Front door.

Craig was found dead inside his car, which was locked with the key in the ignition. This suggests that the killer had the third car key! Perhaps someone took it earlier that evening and then gained access to Craig’s car?

See Larry Cooper’s statement – valet attendant at Pandora Nightclub. A car door was heard shutting at Pandora Nighclub’s parking lot. A key was missing from Craig Flint’s apartment, and his father died from rat poison (Rest-in-Squeaks). When putting together these facts, we can deduce that Terrence managed to swipe a key from Craig’s apartment while having pizza there. He was then able to gain access to Craig’s car whilst Craig was at Pandora’s nightclub and hide in the large area behind the driver’s seat (thanks to the long wheelbase of the car and the blacked-out windows. While hiding in the car, he heard Craig and Luzzi talking about the secret compartment containing the drugs. After killing Craig and consuming his [poisoned] drugs, Terrence made the mistake of locking the car (with the spare key he had taken). The Milton Motel concierge then saw Terrence return to his motel room sometime later (presumably after discarding the spare car key somewhere); Terrence Macachef died from the poisoned drugs shortly after.
