HINT 01

Have you accessed the Iocus drive mentioned in the introduction letter? Head over to www.iocus.co.uk/drive and use the login information provided in the introduction letter. You’ll need to work out what the password is using the clues given to you on the same document. Clues to the password are found on multiple pieces of evidence in PART ONE.

HINT 02

The first password clue is “my grandfather’s first name”. The introduction letter has been written by George St John and we know that he is trying to bring justice to his Uncle Percy, i.e. his Father’s Brother. Where have you read about the family history surrounding Iocus Insurance? Read the ‘City Life Magazine’.

HINT 03

In the ‘City Life Magazine’ it says “Iocus Insurance Ltd., is currently run by Maxim St. John….. However Maxim’s eldest son Percy….” Percy’s father was called Maxim which makes Maxim the grandfather of George. This is the first answer to the password clue.

HINT 04

The second password clue written in the introduction letter is “…the year in which Iocus Insurance was founded”. A clue relating to this can be found in the London Evening Chronicle Newspaper dated Monday 13 December 1965.

HINT 05

Read the article ‘A Letter from the Editor’. In this article it mentions Iocus Insurance – “…comedian Stoat Shelley has recently insured his moustache at Iocus Insurance for £300,000, taking out a policy with the 234-year-old-company…”. The paper was dated in 1965. Go back 234 years, and we find that the company was founded in 1731.

HINT 06

The third part of the password clue given in the introduction letter is “…the title of the film released on the day Randall was killed”. The introduction letter gives the date of the 13th of December 1965, the day Randall Tomlinson died. We need to find information about a film that was released on that same day. A clue relating to this can be found in the newspaper clipping from the New York Star & Globe, dated Monday, December 13, 1965.

HINT 07

Read the article “Columns Pages (Continued)” it states towards the end of the article – “Indeed, I fail to muster up such excitement for Mountaineer, which opens in cinemas across the city on this day…”. Mountaineer is the answer to the final part of the password.
