Take a look at the hints below for guidance!

HINT 01

To solve the case, we need to identify the key moments in the timeline for the whereabouts of Dr. Achenbach in the lead-up to his death. Once we can understand the time of death, we will be able to move on to the other suspects. Let’s get started by looking at the Coroner’s Report for an approximate time of death.

HINT 02

The coroner suggests that Dr Achenbach died between 22:00 and 22:20. This is just an estimate so we need to be a little more accurate with the timings. What was Dr Achenbach doing before he died? See Dr. Fitz’s statement.

HINT 03

Dr. Fitz claims to have seen Dr. Achenbach in the corridor in the lead-up to his death. Dr. Fitz’s statement reads: “I went to find Dr. Achenbach, and found him in the corridor outside his office – wanting to avoid a total power outage, he decided to go down to the fuel store to get some more fuel”. Turn your attention to the Fuel Store Log.

HINT 04

The fuel store log shows that Dr Achenbach was alive at 22:08, it is logged on the sheet. Have you been able to access the evidence online yet? If not, do so now. If you need assistance with this, please follow the hints trail – Accessing the online evidence found in P.L.Ayers inbox.

HINT 05

Take a look at the weather cam (image 3)  footage of Dr Achenbach walking back to the SRS. What time is it?

HINT 06

The time is 22:14 and further corroborates the time of Achenbach visiting the fuel store allowing him time to collect new fuel cans, log it on the sheet, and walk back to where he was seen on the weather cam. What happened to Achenbach as he came back from the fuel store?

HINT 07

Achenbach appears to have been attacked. Now find the email from Chief Winterburn with the subject matter “Radio-to-Radio” which contains the handheld transceiver recording, and listen to it. What information can we gather from this?

HINT 08

We can hear Achenbach being attacked and we hear him fall to his death. Note the time of the recording and the duration of the recording.

Answer

The filename of the attachment in the email states that the recording was “Recorded @ 22:14:55” and we hear Achenbach being attacked at 1min 12secs. Add this time to the time the audio was recorded, 22:16:07. This is the time that Achenbach died.
