MOUNT MORTIMER HINTS: Arlene Fitz

Who is Arlene Fitz? Firstly, familiarize yourself with Arlene’s role at the Scientific Research Station. Read the Active Staff List.

Arlene Fitz is the Dr/Physician at the Science Research Station on Mount Mortimer. Why would Dr Fitz want Achenbach dead? Read one of the Diary Statements on Monday, November 14^th.

The person writing this Diary has noticed that “there’s bad blood between Dr. Fitz and Dr. Achenbach.” We need to investigate this further. Carry on reading the diary entry.

On Wednesday, November 23^rd, the person writing the diary uncovered some information “where Fitz had an affair with one of the scientists. Somehow Achenbach found out about it, and he went and told everyone”. Revenge could be Fitz’s motive! We need to establish where Fitz was at the time of the murder. Where does she claim to be? Read her statement.

Arlene claims to have been checking up on Michel when the SRS went into reserve power mode. She then went to find Dr. Achenbach – “wanting to avoid a total power outage, he decided to go down to the fuel store and get more fuel”. What time would this have been? Take a look at the Fuel Store Log.

The fuel log suggests that Achenbach was in the fuel store at 22:08. Fitz would have seen him a few minutes before this time. In Fitz’s statement, she claims to have gone back to the infirmary and then to the communications room to keep the Police in Whitehorse abreast of the power situation. Open up the email that contains the responder statement. The information in this email will help you clarify the points made by Dr Fitz in her statement.

The responder received a call at 22:12. The responder claims that two calls were made combining five minutes. Therefore the time would be 22:17, after the death of Dr Achenbach. We know that this was Dr. Fitz because the content of the call with the responder, matches the claims from Dr.Fitz.
Dr. Fitz was on the phone to the police at the time of death.
