Take a look at the hints below for guidance!

HINT 01

Tom is the Night Watchman at MediLuck Medicines. He was on duty that night and he was the person that called the police after finding the body. It has been noted that he is one of the 3 suspects in the building at the time of the murder. Could Tom have gotten access to Lab 7G-12? Turn your attention to Nell’s notes from Part 1.

HINT 02

Yes, Tom could’ve gotten access to Lab 7G-12! Nell mentions she was provided with an access card with “Class T” access (which is visible on her access card from part 1). In Part 3, Bill Cavanagh states that ‘Class T passes are “the topmost level of security and allow access to all labs and rooms”. We know that Nell was given the same clearance as “them” (security), and Nell also mentions in her notes (part 1) that Patrick had the same level of clearance too. Now we know Patrick has access to the room, we should follow his trail before moving on. Follow the clues for Patrick before moving any further with the hints on this page.

HINT 03

We now know that Patrick is innocent, so we turn our attention back to Tom. We know that security can access all areas of the building and Tom could have gotten access to LAB 7G-12 where the victim was found. We need to trace Tom’s footsteps that evening. Familiarise yourself with his witness statement from Part One.

HINT 04

In his witness statement (Part 1), Tom states that at around 8.30 pm, he went to the bathroom. On his way back, via the cafeteria, he noticed a noise from the rear exit, so he went to investigate (see CAM27 image from PART 3 – note the timecode in the top right corner – 20:37). This information conflicts with Phil’s statement – they can’t both be right. Stop here, and follow the hints for Phil before moving on to hint 5.

HINT 05

Phil seems to have alibis for his movements around the time of Nell’s murder. Phil takes the delivery at 20:36 and bumps into Tom on his way back to the goods-in room. He then deposits the delivery into the fridge at 20:38.

We appear to have eliminated Phil and Patrick, but let’s not make any rash decisions, we can’t charge Tom with the murder until we’ve gathered more incriminating evidence against him.

HINT 06

Tom does not mention his encounter with Phil in his statement, but the evidence we have suggests that Tom may have been elsewhere at the time of the encounter. He can’t be in two different places at the same time…maybe he’s not!… See CAM 27 (Part 3)…Take a long hard look at that image and compare it with the CAM27 image from Part 1.

HINT 07

Look at the CAM27 image (Part 1):

Note that the time on the analogue wall clock matches the timecode in the top right corner of the image. Now look at the wall clock and timecode on the CAM27 image (Part 3)…they don’t match!…

What’s more…according to the Internal Memo (Part 3), when the suspect is seen fleeing the building they weren’t caught on any of the external CCTV feeds from the surrounding buildings! The Internal Memo for Part 3 also states “[the CCTV footage shows that] nobody entered the building after Ms Phryp went in.

Use the camera map from Part 1. How is it possible to have escaped without being seen?

HINT 08

The only feasible route without being caught on CCTV would be to leave the rear fire exit, turn left towards the Digisystronic building, left again down the alleyway between the Mediluck and Digisystronic buildings, and re-enter the goods-in shutter door!… Who’s the only person that can operate the goods-in shutter door?!

Answer

The shutter door can only be operated in conjunction with the switch key. Nell mentions that Phil was complaining about Security being the only people who can operate the Goods-In Shutter! The only security member on duty that night was Tom!
