Manor Hints: Frances Manx

Frances Manx was a racing driver, just like Astrid. According to the newspaper clipping, Frances was always coming second to Astrid, which could give rise to a potential motive – if she is able to get rid of Astrid, Frances becomes the best female driver in the USA. What did Frances Manx change her name to, and where does Frances claim she was at the time of the murder? 

Frances Manx changed her name to Frances Parker after marrying Brett Parker (refer to Modernist Monthly Magazine). In a letter to Mark Tewkesbury, she claims she was playing billiards when the group photo was being taken. However, we need further evidence to confirm her alibi. How can we be sure that Frances was playing billiards during the murder?

Around the time of the murder, the Police Chief mentioned in his statement, “The doors were open, so we could hear the…clack of billiard balls.”

Since no one else claims to have been playing billiards at the time of Astrid’s death, and only a few people were missing at the time the photo was to be taken, it’s safe to assume Frances was telling the truth – she was in the billiards room at the time of the murder.
