Take a look at the hints below for guidance!
Clue 1
Who are these people in the photograph? What do they seem to be doing? Can their acions be linked to another piece of evidence?
Clue 2
Look at the Coroner’s Report (from part 2). The report details light bruising and a puncture wound to the sole of the left foot. Could the photograph in the envelope be the true reason behind the death of the person mentioned in the Coroner’s Report? Is there another piece of evidence that would further back this claim?
Clue 3
See the “Record of Interview” (from part 2). Ute Penn provides photographic proof that Dave Herman was killed by people that she knew as “John and Paul”, stating “I had proof that could help prove her friend (Dave Herman) was killed.” Where else have you seen the men in Ute’s Photo?
Clue 4
Jeremy Scandret’s Police Report (part 2) informs us that the police are staking-out The Tap Room and take photos of a man called “Carl Meekins”. Meekins appears to be the same person in Ute’s photograph (a big, stocky build with a long green wax jacket). How can we confirm that it is Meekins in Ute’s photograph? Do you notice anything unusual about his appearance?
Clue 5
Look closely at his left hand in Ute Penn’s photograph. A separate piece of evidence further supports the idea that this is Meekins.
Clue 6
The fingerprint data sheet (part 2) illustrates that Meekins only has fingerprint data for one hand – his right hand. The photo from Ute shows that the big stocky man in the green wax jacket only has one hand.
Answer
Meekins is the leader of a criminal gang, involved in the use of snapback venom. The police are tracking him due to his drug smuggling operations. The stakeout report shows that Meekins was in The Tap Room throughout the duration of the murder. As such, Meekins has an alibi, but we are still unable to identify his right-hand man “Paul”. We need to identify who Paul is.
