These clues relate to Lenny’s Whereabouts

HINT 01

Does Lenny have a reason to harm Stubby?

HINT 02

Lenny Newton claimed that Stubby had stolen the lyrics to “Final Dream” (Stubby’s most famous song), and that they’d had a big falling out over it – see Stubby’s obituary in the “All That Jazz” Magazine.

Were there any opportunities for Lenny to tamper with the reed?

HINT 03

Frank Lee’s witness statement (the audio recording in the webmail) would suggest that Lenny had some time backstage (at Stubby’s 60th birthday) away from Stubby. Could this have been a window of opportunity for Lenny to seek revenge?

HINT 04

What else does Frank Lee suggest Stubby had upon his person – whilst with Frank at the Lemon Leopard Club?

HINT 05

Frank Lee mentions Stubby only having one saxophone… but which one was it?

HINT 06

What was his numberplate (car registration plate), and how can we track him?

HINT 07

Where was Lenny for the remainder of the weekend?

Still totally stuck? Here’s the answer

ANSWER

The LSE Reunion article in the “All That Jazz” magazine states that Stubby was playing the tenor sax on the night of his 60th birthday. Frank Lee’s statement suggests that Stubby only had one Saxophone case (and not “cases”), it was the Alto sax that killed Stubby and NOT the tenor sax that was being used by Stubby that night.

There was a vehicle parked at the Lemon Leopard Club with the registration plates ‘MUSICAL’ (see parking ticket). Frank Lee’s statement gives a nod towards Lenny’s car, saying “the personalised plates were a little tacky”. This was also mentioned in the sound recording of Stubby’s last words, in the online content. Now that we’ve established Lenny’s vehicle registration, we can link it with the ANPR cameras (in the webmail) that picked up a car with those plates, heading to France on 14/4, and as such, Lenny was out of the country for the remainder of the weekend.

Since Lenny never came in contact with the Saxophone that killed Stubby, we can safely say that it wasn’t Lenny that killed Stubby, and we can rule him out from the list of suspects!
